"Grazing Sheep close to Dunstanburgh Castle" © Stuart Forster

With so much greenery and a wonderful coastline, Northumberland offers landscape photographers lots of choice. I photographed at Hadrian's Wall and in the Northumberland National Park and considered showing those in the 'rural' section. However, I feel that this scene from Dunstanburgh Castle captures the feel of the county in the summer. When the sun shines there are few places in the world that are more beautiful. Walking along the coast is pleasant and the sheep share the field with tourists and day trippers who trek along the shore and to the castle. Should I have shown walkers or sheep? Dunstanburgh Castle is one of many in Northumberland, and I felt a rural photograph of the county had to include one of them.
